China Responds To Trump’s 100% Tariff Threat: ‘We Don’t Participate In Trade Wars’

China Responds To Trump’s 100% Tariff Threat: China has retaliated against the US due to the suggestion by the President Donald Trump that NATO must inflict 50-100 percent tariffs on Beijing regarding its buying of Russian oil. Minimizing the fact that Beijing is determined to facilitate peace talks in settling issues in the hot-spots, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has added that wars could never resolve problems and that sanctions would only make them harder.

He said the words during a press conference in Ljubljana on Saturday, the day after meeting with a Deputy PM and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, China Daily reported.

"China does not participate in or plan wars, and what China does is to encourage peace talks and promote political settlement of hotspot issues through dialogue," Wang Yi said.

Another call was made by him to encourage multilateralism, enhance multilateral systems, and collaboratively protect the objectives and ideals of the UN Charter. He emphasised the fact that the world of the current times is defined by the combined anarchy and ongoing warfare.

"China and Europe should be friends rather than rivals, and should cooperate rather than confront each other. Making the right choices amid the greatest changes in a century demonstrates the responsibilities that both sides should fulfill towards history and the people," Wang Yi said, as reported by Global Times.

His disguised allusion follows the proposal by the US President Donald Trump on Saturday to impose tariffs of 50 per cent to 100 per cent on China by NATO.

"I believe that this, plus NATO, as a group, placing 50 per cent to 100 per cent TARIFFS ON CHINA, to be fully withdrawn after the WAR with Russia and Ukraine is ended, will also be of great help in ENDING this deadly, but RIDICULOUS, WAR," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "China has a strong control, and even grip, over Russia, and these powerful tariffs will break that grip."

Trump had previously leveled the accusation against Chinese President Xi Jinping that he was conspiring against the United States. The charge came after the biggest military parade in Chinese history took place on September 3, where the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin were present.

Trump claimed his personal relationship with the Chinese leadership was very good hours after he implicated Chinese President, Xi Jinping, of conspiring against America.
