Taking to his blog, Amitabh expressed profound grief, calling Piyush “a creative genius, a most amiable friend, and guide,” adding that the advertising icon’s legacy “shall ever be an eternal emblem of his immeasurable creativity.”
On his blog, Amitabh wrote, "A creative genius .. a most amiable friend, and guide .. has left us .. No words to express our grief .. Piyush Pandey, passed away this morning .. The creative works left behind by him shall ever be an eternal emblem of his immeasurable creativity .."

Who Was Piyush Pandey?
Born in Jaipur in 1955, Pandey was among seven daughters and two sons of his parents. He joined the advertising industry in 1982 as a client servicing executive at Ogilvy. The first ad he wrote was for Sunlight Detergent.
With his creativity, he soon became an indispensable asset of the company. Under his leadership, Ogilvy remained the best ad agency for 12 consecutive years in the Agency Reckoner.
Amitabh Bachchan has collaborated with Pandey on many projects. In the 1990s, when India was battling the threat of polio, Piyush Pandey turned to Amitabh Bachchan to lend his voice to a nationwide awareness drive. The campaign’s memorable line, “Do Boond Zindagi Ke,” became a rallying call that helped accelerate India’s journey toward becoming polio-free.

Years later, the celebrated duo reunited for Gujarat’s tourism campaign, “Khushboo Gujarat Ki.” With Bachchan as the brand ambassador, delivering the now-iconic tagline “Kuch din toh guzaaro Gujarat mein,” the campaign became a massive hit, beautifully showcasing the cultural and scenic richness of the state.
