Three Arrested, Contraband Worth ₹5.5 Crore Seized in West Tripura
Besides seizing contraband items, including 1.06 lakh methamphetamine tablets, the police also recovered five smartphones and two motorbikes from the accused.

Contraband Worth ₹5.5 Crore Seized in West Tripura: Three persons suspected of trading in drugs were arrested from the Mahiskhala Chandinnamura area of West Tripura district on Friday with seizure of contraband worth over ₹5.5 crore, according to the police.
The accused, identified as 45-year-old Mohammad Babul Miah, 26-year-old Sipan Hussain, and 42-year-old Sanjay Miah, were arrested on Thursday night from Babul Miah's house in Mahiskhala during an anti-drug operation conducted by the Sadar sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Deba Prasad Roy.

Besides contrabands, including 1.06 lakh methamphetamine tablets and five cell phones, the police recovered two motorcycles from the accused.
Tripura shares an 856 km international border with Bangladesh, which includes land and riverine borders. A major chunk of the border is protected by a barbed-wire fence, with only a few patches remaining unfenced due to local disputes. Major trans-border crimes include human trafficking, arms smuggling, drug trafficking, and smuggling of cattle and other livestock.

Thursday night, a drug haul took place just nine days after the Assam Rifles, Customs Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized Rs. 24 crore drugs in Tripura and arrested a drug peddler.
Defence spokesman said that acting on specific intelligence, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Customs officials had recovered unclaimed baggage on Agartala-bound Shatabdi Express last night in Tripura's Dhalai district and found over 1.5 lakh methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 15 crore.
