CM Rekha Gupta Seeks Inputs for ‘Viksit Delhi Budget’; BJP Criticizes Kejriwal Over Vipassana

‘Viksit Delhi Budget’: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday said the Delhi government will present the ‘Viksit Delhi’ budget for 2025-26 in the assembly between March 24 and 26.

She emphasised that the upcoming budget will align with the vision of 'Viksit Delhi' (a developed Delhi) and will be shaped by inputs from various sections of society to ensure inclusive growth and development.

Addressing a press conference, she said the budget will be prepared after incorporating suggestions from the public. “To ensure that the budget reflects the needs of women in Delhi, a consultation with various women’s organisations will be held on March 5,” Gupta said.

To ensure public participation, she also released an email ID and a WhatsApp number for residents to send in their suggestions. "All officers have been instructed to incorporate the suggestions of all sections of society," Gupta said, adding that the government is working to fulfil the promises made in its manifesto.

Speaking at the press conference, Gupta outlined key focus areas of the budget, including financial aid for women, expansion of healthcare services, promotion of public transport, pollution control, employment generation, better education facilities, subsidised nutritious food for the underprivileged, welfare of senior citizens, and cleaning of the Yamuna.

"We have invited women's organisations from across Delhi on March 5 to take their suggestions for the budget. On the same day, educationists have also been invited for their inputs. On March 6, we have invited trade unions to understand their concerns," the Chief Minister said.

She added that the Delhi Secretariat is working even on weekends to ensure timely preparation of the budget. "We have less time and a lot of work to do, so we will reduce press conferences and rather stay among the people," she added.

BJP MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa slammed Kejriwal, calling him a “VIP Maharaja” who once “pretended to be a common man.” In a post on X, Sirsa wrote, “Arvind Kejriwal, who once pretended to be a common man in a WagonR, now moves in a lavish convoy of bulletproof Land Cruisers, 100+ Punjab Police commandos, jammers & ambulances—like a VIP Maharaja all for Vipassana, a retreat meant for peace!”

He also questioned the Punjab government’s funding of the “security parade.”

“What kind of ‘Vipassana’ requires a grand security parade funded by Punjab taxpayers? Even CM Bhagwant Mann isn’t in the convoy! AAP’s truth is out—deception, hypocrisy, and VIP arrogance at its peak,” Sirsa added.
