Zeenat Aman Recalls Awkward Moment When Fan Mistook Her for Parveen Babi After Actor’s Death

Zeenat Aman interview: The stars of yore between mid 1970s and through early 80s were undoubtedly the chief reigning queens of Hindi cinema, namely Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi. In those years, Parveen and Zeenat would go on to become the most stylishly dressed female actors on the screen. Just last Thursday, Zeenat conducted an AMA session on Reddit, where a fan inquired whether the actor had ever been mistaken for Parveen Babi in public by fans. To this, Zeenat gave an affirmative reply but later narrated a particular 'awkward' moment she had with a fan.

What Zeenat said about Parveen

A Reddit user asked a question which read, “Hi Zeenat Ji. As a kid I would always get confused between yourself and Parveen Babi. Did you ever get confused in public by fans?”

In response, Zeenat said, “That was a very common mistake. Parveen was stunning so I didn't mind it either! There was one very awkward moment in Dubai when a woman went absolutely gaga over me thinking I'm Parveen, but this was AFTER her passing! It was so uncomfortable, and I was the one to have to break it to that dejected fan that her favourite actress is no more.”

About Parveen Babi

Parveen was a great competitor of Zeenat Aman during their years because both came from the modeling background. With the two actresses sharing dates with great actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Shashi Kapoor and Shatrughan Sinha. She became the first Indian to appear on the cover of TIME Magazine. Her last Bollywood project was Iraada (1991), starring Shatrughan Sinha and Moon Moon Sen.

Babi was also diagnosed with diabetes and osteoarthritis of the knee and paranoid schizophrenia. She died due to multiple organ failures at the age of 50, and her dead body remained undiscovered for three days after her death.

On the contrary, Zeenat Aman is in Netflix's 'The Royals' along with Ishaan Khatter and Bhumi Pednekar. She also stars in Bun Tikki with Shabana Azmi and Abhay Deol.
