Revenge for Moosewala’: Insta Post Under Punjab Police Lens After Kabaddi Player Rana Balachauria’s Murder in Mohali
Post supposedly by Gopi Ghanshampur gang purports in Punjabi that Rana Balachauria was associated with the gangs of Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria; the police were investigating.
Revenge for Moosewala’: A social media post suggesting that it killed kabaddi player Rana Balachauria on Monday in Mohali and called it revenge over the murdering of a singer Sidhu Moosewala has gone viral. According to police sources, this is one of the posts that are being investigated.
Instagram reel, which was posted allegedly by a smaller gang that is allegedly further connected to Bambiha gang, stated in Punjabi that the attack was to avenge the murder of Moosewala in 2022, that Rana Balachauria had connections to Lawrence Bishnoi and the gang of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. It also warned gamers against playing in kabaddi teams that it claimed had been sponsored by Jaggu.
The post identified a number of people and accused the victim of being affiliated with rival gangs. The police officers verified that they have noted this, and they are in the process of investigating the allegations in the post, which associates the killing with the murder of Moosewala.

Web On May 29, 2022, Moosewala was killed purportedly by members of the Bishnoi gang on his way home to his village Moosa in Mansa district of Punjab when he was traveling. Lawrence has had years of jail time. Moosewala was an incredibly popular singer in his brief career but popular even more after dying and his unreleased songs today attract millions of views when released by his father, Balkaur Singh, and production firms.
Rana Balachauria's murder
On Monday evening, Rana Balachauria, a kabaddi player and sports event organizer, was present at a local kabaddi tournament in Sohana of Mohali when he was killed by some unknown mercenaries. Kanwar Digvijay Singh is the real name of Rana.
The incident, that occurred at around 5.30 pm in Sector 82, followed when hundreds of spectators and players were present in the match causing instant panic and a rush to seek cover.
Several handles, including the BJP and the Congress leaders, have been sharing videos of the chilling moments they had in questioning the AAP government about the incident.
During the incident, teams were ready to enter the field, players were warming up.
The eyewitnesses claimed that a party of men came close to the venue in Mahindra Bolero.
Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans explained that the attackers went up to Rana in the name of taking a selfie then opened fire.
At first, several spectators were not sure what it was but the confusion later gave way to fear after witnessing Rana fall after getting injuries on the head and face.
The livestream of the match was also on at the time the firing was taking place, and captured the sound of the firing.
The injured player was rushed to the Fortis Hospital at Mohali by DSP HS Bal who was in attendance as the chief guest and other police officials. The hospital later in the evening released a statement that Digvijay Singh had been brought dead.
