“The intention is to raise as much money as possible for his speedy recovery,” she said.
The actions of Ahmed are referred to as the best of humanity by Australian PM.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese declared the actions of Ahmed to be life-saving and courageous, and such courage is a strong response to the violence of the attack.
“What we’ve seen in the last 24 hours was the worst of humanity in a terrorist act. But we also saw an example of the best of humanity in Ahmed Al Ahmed running towards danger, putting his own life at risk,” Albanese told state broadcaster ABC News.
The prime minister suggested that Ahmed had been shot twice by the second attacker. His relatives reported afterwards that he had been hurt in the hand and the arm.
‘My son is a hero’: Ahmed's father
Ahmed is the son of Mohamed Fateh al Ahmed, an Australian citizen who has been employed as a fruit and vegetable vendor, according to the father of Ahmed, when interviewed by the ABC News.
“My son is a hero. He served in the police, he has the passion to defend people,” he said.
Remembering when his son came to the rescue, Mohamed Fateh also wrote: “When he saw people lying on the ground and the blood, quickly his conscience pushed him to attack one of the terrorists and take away his weapon.”
The report states that Ahmed has already been undergoing first surgery and possibly needs additional procedures, according to his cousin Jozay Alkanji.
