Putin to Visit India in December Amid Growing India-US Trade Tensions
Now that these new trade barriers are in place, India and Russia are now likely to evaluate how they can collaborate and formulate a plan to overcome the effects of the US tariffs.
India and Moscow are also preparing to host the visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to India as early as early December. The trip will be included in the 23 rd Indian-Russian Annual Summit, which is one of the significant events in the long-term strategic relationship between the two countries. This will mark the first visit by Putin to India after the Russia-Ukraine crisis started.
Before President Putin is visiting, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is coming to India, ANI reported. During the last 80th United Nations general assembly meeting, Lavrov assured of the high-level visit.

He said that a visit by Mr Putin to New Delhi is scheduled in December. He also added that US tariffs would not impact on India-Russia relations.
The summit agenda is quite broad, covering such matters as trade, defense collaboration, finance, medical relations and technology collaboration.
It is worth noting that PM Modi recently had a meeting with his Russian counterpart Putin at the SCO summit in China.
India-Russia annual summit
In India-Russia Annual Summit was initiated in 2000 and is alternately hosted by the two countries. Although the summit has been interrupted in the Covid-19 pandemic it is still one of the pillars of bilateral relations.
The visit of Putin is significant to tariffs imposed by Trump on India.

The visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to India is timed in a moment when strains between the New Delhi and Washington have been escalating over the Indian trade relations with Moscow. Following the ongoing purchase of Russian oil by India, US President Donald Trump has placed 50 per cent tariffs on Indian commodities. According to Washington, the move is one of the parts of its attempt to pressure Russia into terminating its military operations in Ukraine.
Now that these new trade barriers are there, India and Russia can look into how to collaborate and devise a plan to offset the effect of the US tariffs.
