Delhi Police to Become “World-Class” Force: Ministry Approves 26 New Infrastructure Projects

The Ministry of Home Affairs has given Administrative Approval and Expenditure Sanction of value of Rs 653.46 crore in 26 infrastructure projects of Delhi Police which was a major step towards enhancing the policing infrastructure in the national capital.

It is established through an official release that the approved projects consist of the construction of 18 Police Station buildings, 7 Police Posts, 1 Women Hostel and 180 Staff Quarters.

These are projects that will offer modern, well equipped, and gender sensitive facilities to improve working/living conditions of police personnel, which will help to create a safer and more secure environment in Delhi. Central Public Works Department (CPWD) will carry out all the projects.

Previously, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) released 79,774 square feet of office space in its establishments and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) as a special drive towards developing work environments that were sustainable and eco-friendly.

The campaign which is carried out between November 2024 and August 2025 worked on the disposal of long pending references and enhanced administration.

The ministry took 2,405 Swachhata campaigns in different locations, such as field and outstation offices, during the campaign period. The MHA has been able to clear out 493 references of Members of Parliament (MPs), two proposals of the Cabinet, 104 references of State Governments as well as 30 communications of the Prime Ministers Office (PMO).

A large amount of public correspondence was also finally disposed of by the ministry, 40,880 public grievances and 1,864 appeals having been received in the course of the campaign window.

To facilitate easy monitoring and coordination, the MHA has made use of a special intra-ministry digital portal through which all the divisions, Union Territories and the Delhi Police could post and monitor data related to the campaign in real time. This online integration contributed to simplification of the communication process, as well as accuracy in reporting on the progress made in different departments.

This program is part of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) Special Campaign 5.0 to encourage government offices to be more environmentally friendly, efficient, and clean. The campaign is being closely monitored from the top of the Ministry to ensure tangible outcomes.

In order to achieve campaign outcomes, MHA has directed all CAPFs and Central Police Organizations (CPOs) to "go the extra mile" and actively participate in the campaign. It will continue its campaign on sustainability, digitization and efficient record management or will ensure that government workspaces are clean, sustainable and accessible to citizens.

The MHA has demonstrated its commitment to create a cleaner and more effective governance ecosystem through such initiatives, demonstrating that it is aligned to assist the larger objectives of Swachh Bharat and administrative excellence.

The MHA and its agencies have held special drives on a monthly basis to enhance our disciplines on record management, make better use of office space, and enhance cleanliness.
