Delhi AQI Stays ‘Poor’ To ‘Severe’ As Government Plans Artificial Rain On October 29
Delhi's air quality has improved slightly registered at 293 on Friday although a smog was still seen covering the city in the morning.
On Friday, the air quality in Delhi dipped to 'poor' after a continued spate of ‘very poor’ air quality for four consecutive days. According to data provided by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI stood at 293 on October 24 (6 am), following the Diwali celebrations in the national capital.
The capital's 24-hour average air quality on Thursday was 'very poor', i.e. recorded at 305 at 4 pm.

AQI 'poor' in Noida, Ghaziabad and NCR areas
In Delhi NCR, the air quality Index was recorded at 295 in Sector 51 of Gurugram, 230 in Faridabad, and 292 in Ghaziabad's Indirapuram. The Air Quality Index in Noida stood at 248, and in Meerut, the AQI was at 218. Nearly all NCR agglomerations were experiencing 'poor' air quality.
Moreover, the Centre's air quality Early Warning System (EWS) indicated the AQI is likely to remain in the 'poor' and 'very poor' category for a number of days. Transport emissions were at 15.7% of Delhi's air pollution on Thursday, according to the data released by the Decision Support System (DSS).
Delhi works to tackle air pollution
On Thursday, the Delhi government said efforts to tackle air pollution across the national capital are underway.

Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said on Thursday that approximately 2000 teams are out during the day and night to monitor and implement the state government's initiatives to combat pollution. He also shared that the work to deploy an additional 70 mechanized sweepers, 70 other anti smog guns, water sprinklers, and 140 litter pickers along 1,440 km of roads will be completed.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Thursday that preparations to create artificial rain through cloud-seeding in the national capital are now completed.
She also congratulated Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and other officials involved in this process, stating that the weather department had indicated clouds formed on October 28, 29, and 30. CM said that this work is also expected to aid in reducing pollution in Delhi.
