‘We Will Take Revenge’: What the Threat Email to 5 Ahmedabad Schools Said

On Wednesday, emails about bomb threats were sent to several well known schools in Ahmedabad causing panic and compelling the authorities to intensify their security level.

The letter of the threat, addressed to ten schools in the district of Gujarat, was as follows, "We will take revenge", a police statement said.

According to Harshad Patel, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 1, about ten schools in Ahmedabad received the threat mail and a number of police teams conducted search operations at schools. He announced that no suspicious material was discovered and a holiday has been declared in the schools in the afternoon shift.

“Nearly 10 schools in Ahmedabad received bomb threat mails, under which, the senior officers of city police, local police station incharge and other teams are investigating various schools... Suspicious material has not been found yet in any of the schools... The schools have suspended or postponed their afternoon sessions. Other schools are also investigating their premises through security... The origin of the mail is being investigated by the cybercrime unit of Ahmedabad police,” Harshad Patel told ANI.

Some of the schools, which were sent the emails are the Zydus School, Vejalpur, Zebra School, Maharaja Agrasen School, Nirman School in Vastrapur and DAV International School, the Hindustan Times has learned.

Emails content was not revealed because the issue is investigated and authorities disclosed nothing, they said.

Owing to the intimidating state of the mail, the school officials informed the Police about the issue and as a result, the situation was addressed without wasting any more time. The Ahmedabad police sent the security people and dog squads to conduct a search in the schools and the parents were immediately informed to fetch the students home.

"This is to inform you that due to some inconvenience, we have to vacate the Vidhyalaya premises. We request you to collect your child as soon as possible", a notice sent to the parents read, according to ANI.

The Ahmedabad schools threat is one in a series of threat mails that have been received by various schools in the country including the schools of Delhi and Punjab.

On Monday morning, 11 private schools in Jalandhar, Punjab got bomb threat e-mails and were evacuated immediately. Some schools in Amritsar also received bomb threats through email, on December 12 and this was also a hoax. Likewise, such threats were also directed towards a number of schools in Delhi on December 10. Bomb threat was also received in one school in Gurugram; although it was not clear whether the two were connected.
