‘Teach Her a Lesson’: The police on Saturday said that a woman from Gujarat's Botad district had 'mentally harassed' her husband, which led him to take the extreme step of suicide.
Gujarat police took action against the woman after her 39-year-old husband's suicide note turned into a video record. PTI reports that the video addressed the deceased's family as "teach my wife a lesson for making me die."

The body of the man was found on December 30 hanging from the ceiling of his house located in the Zamrala village of Botad.
"This recording was found on his mobile by his family members," said an official in the Botad rural police station. "In it, he has asked them to teach his wife a lesson for causing his death."
Based on the complaint laid down by the father of the deceased, police registered a first information report (FIR) on Friday against his wife. The woman's father-in-law has claimed in the complaint that his daughter-in-law mentally tortured him by fighting with him and leaving his house every now and then for her parents' house.
According to the FIR, the deceased was at his in-laws' place attempting to persuade his wife back to her home with him. However, she was unwilling to go home with him, so he 'returned,' making a video of himself, after which he went ahead and took that big step.
Police said that a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 108 (abetment of suicide) has been registered and investigation is underway.
Just a week later, a 40-year-old man in Model Town supposedly committed suicide. It was ascertained on Thursday that an hour before his suicide, he had recorded a video on his phone in which he accused his wife and in-laws of "extreme" torture inflicted upon him.
They further stated that inquiries were about videos and the complaint the family had lodged with the police against the poor fellow's wife and in-laws for torture and harassment.

It brings to mind a case from Bengaluru where a software engineer, 34, committed suicide at his residence in Marathahalli after leaving behind a detailed 40-page note leaving his reasons for his step.
This man reportedly hails from Uttar Pradesh, where he alleged that his wife and her family "mentally harassed and extorted" him.
The case was registered against the wife, her mother, brother and other uncle,and aunt by Marathahalli police under the abstract of complaint by demise technology. The deceased's brother had given the complaint against the wife and her companions for allegedly demanding 3 crores to settle legal cases.
The man left her after a marriage of 2019 in a website matrimonial site when he married. Following many troubles, she had to leave his house in Bangalore with their son. Following this, she and her family are said to have started demanding vast amounts from him, and on refusal, several cases were registered against the idol and his family in which they were accused of various crimes like attempt to murder, dowry harassment, and sexual misconduct.
