The Palestinian Prisoners Commission estimates that 88 out of the almost 2,000 prisoners had been deported to the West Bank, the rest to Gaza.
Prisoners flashing peace signs wrapped in the Palestinian keffiyeh were in a state of moribund health and screamed their names as the raucous mob shouted their names.

As soon as the door of the bus was opened, police were not able to restrain the crowd that rushed in. Family members came down to their loved ones embraced them and lifted them on their shoulders and headed to waiting family members. One of the prisoners was riding on the shoulders of his friend and with his fingers spread in a V of victory before falling flat on the feet of his mother.
One of the relatives of Saber Masalma, a Fatah member of the Western faction of the Palestine Liberation Movement (PLO) who was arrested in 2002 and sentenced to life imprisonment said, He has 24 years, he was locked up with the accusations of conspiracy to cause death and the charges of placing explosive charges. Masalma was even forced to have a phone thrust into his face, to see his nieces and nephews on a video call as it was the first time they met.
According to Saber, his relative, he had gotten very poor in the past two years and he could hardly recognise his brother following the drastic weight loss.
“He looks like a dead body. But we shall make him alive again, said he in a laugh. They were heading to a restaurant and there they needed to be cautious not to stuff Saber too much since his stomach is not accustomed to much food after failing to eat well in prison.
Sorrow was among the scenes of joy. Some of the families whose relatives had been reported to come home by the Israeli security services were surprised to realize that their relatives were not found on the buses on Monday.

In order to make their families think that they are being deported Gaza, prisoners informed families that more than a dozen prisoners had been taken last night as part of the main group. Being deported to Gaza, the families would practically not see their loved ones again.
A woman fell when she saw that their loved ones will not come out of the buses as expected and others started wailing.
A woman screamed out in tears, Why are they deporting him? as the police officers dashed her out of the crowd.
The remaining almost 2,000 Palestinian captives were deported to Gaza which was a small fraction of them and the rest would be exiled to other neighbouring countries like Turkey and Egypt.
