Delhi Govt Releases ₹108 Crore for 12 Fully Funded Colleges

On Wednesday, the Delhi government instructed the release of a third round of grant-in-aid 108 crore to 12 fully-funded government colleges in the state.

The cumulative sum that the government has released in the financial year 2025 2026 is now at 325 crore.

to Education Minister Ashish Sood, the grant will be used to service the salaries of the college staff and teachers, upkeep of college buildings among other crucial capital expenses at the colleges

"The government remains fully committed to strengthening the quality of higher education institutions in Delhi. The release of this grant will further reinforce both the financial and academic conditions of these colleges; (ensure) no teacher or student faces a shortage of resources,” Sood said.

colleges are to get the fund Acharya Narendra Dev College, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, Bhagini Nivedita College, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and sports sciences, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Maharshi Valmiki college of education, Shaheed Rajguru college of applied sciences to women and Shaheed sukhdev college of business studies.

Sood reported that the Delhi government has also separately issued approximately 24 crore to construct buildings and install electricity and water systems as well as other vital amenities in these 12 colleges as such infrastructure changes are done on priority basis.

In a swab to the past governments, the minister claimed that they did not release grants or they did it very slowly putting the future of the students who are enrolled in these colleges at risk. “As soon as our government came into power, we assessed the infrastructure and financial needs of all educational institutions in Delhi. If institutions are not financially sound, they cannot produce capable and competent students,” he said.
