‘Bihar Is Saved’: BJP Takes Dig at INDIA Bloc as JMM’s Exit from Coalition Exposes Rift
JMM headed by Hemant Soren had previously declared to run against Bihar elections on its own and then revisit it alliance
As the voting in Bihar nears, the INDIA bloc appears to be further spiraling into anarchy over the Bihar seat-sharing within the coalition group with the Congress releasing a list of 48 names late on Thursday just hours before the November 6 deadline on nomination of first round in 121 constituencies.
In another new development of the rifts within the grand anti-BJP combine, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha led by Hemant Soren on Saturday declared to run against the Bihar assembly elections as an independent party, and indicated that the party would re-examine its alliance with the Congress and RJD after the assembly elections in the neighbouring state.

The Bharat Janata party (BJP) made a chance to take a jibe on the grand alliance when its IT Cell chief Amit Malviya accused Tejashwi Yadav of RJD and Rahul Gandhi of Congress of the mess in the coalition group. “Rahul and Tejashwi's arrogance is the real reason behind the breakup of the Mahagathbandhan,” Malviya wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Chaos over seat-sharing
The grand alliance seems to be a mess as far as sharing seats is concerned just ahead of the high-stake polls.
Hindustan Times had earlier reported that Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) led by Mukesh Sahni was given 15 seats on their demand of 25-30 seats. The deficit has provoked irritation, and Sahni accuses the bigger allies of feudal bargaining.
It was reported that AICC intervened to conduct negotiations on seat sharing since the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) party officials failed to strike a deal on several attempts.
“The AICC stepped in because our state unit couldn’t navigate the RJD’s intransigence,” a senior party source told Hindustan Times earlier. Senior Bihar Congress leaders had also desired to be contending at least 61 seats which includes the 70 seats it was fighting in 2020, and winning 19 seats, which undermined the dominance of NDA in many pockets.
No nominee has been named in Maharajganj, Jale and Narkatiaganj very likely as there are unresolved differences with RJD which is demanding these in addition to Kahalgaon; Congress leader Vijay Shankar Dubey had won the Maharajganj seat in 2020. Smaller allies such as the Left parties have also been pushed away by the tensions, which feel frustrated by not getting 15-20 seats.

JMM breaks away from INDIA
On Saturday, JMM announced its plans to field candidates in six seats in the Bihar assembly elections.
“The party has decided to contest the Bihar polls on its own. It will contest six assembly seats – Chakai, Dhamdaha, Katoria (ST), Manihari (ST), Jamui and Pirpainti (SC),” JMM general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said
These seats will be contested in second round on November 11.
On October 11, the JMM had told the leaders of the INDIA bloc that the party would make its own decision on whether to contest the Bihar polls, if a respectable number of seats was not given to it before October 14. JMM had been a coalition partner which required 12 seats during the polls.
The Bihar assembly election will be done on November 6 and November 11 with the votes being counted on November 14 to 243 seats.
