Reality television personality Kim Kardashian recently revealed that she received alarming news from doctors following a routine MRI - they had discovered what she referred to as a "little aneurysm" in her brain. This was shared in a clip promoting season 7 of the Kardashian's reality series, The Kardashians.
Kim Kardashian noted that doctors indicated this aneurysm may have been related to significant stress, particularly after her recent divorce from Kanye West while juggling other significant stressors including raising kids, navigating her budding law career and business pressures, and dealing with the aftermath of the robbery that occurred in Paris.

The 45-year-old, mother of four became emotional while discussing this diagnosis. Kim Kardashian mentioned that it was quite a bit to manage, including the recent attention due to her divorce, working to pass the bar exam for law school while managing children and her business, and dealing with heightened media scrutiny and public interest stemming from the burglary in Paris. All of this led to the stress that can contribute to an aneurysm.
What Is an Aneurysm in the Brain?
According to the Mayo Clinic, a brain aneurysm is a weak or thinned, balloon-like bulge in the wall of a blood vessel in the brain. The weak- or thinned area is caused by the pressure of blood flow inside the blood vessel.

While the majority of aneurysms are small and harmless, the rupture of an aneurysm can be life-threatening due to bleeding around the brain, also known as a haemorrhagic stroke. There are many types of aneurysms including saccular aneurysm, fusiform aneurysm, and mycotic aneurysm.
Some of the symptoms of this condition can include nausea, vomiting, stiff neck, blurred or double vision, light sensitivity, seizures, loss of consciousness, and confusion. Some underlying risk factors include: high blood pressure, smoking, genetics, and chronic stress. Early detection, as Kim Kardashian has shared, often allows for careful follow-up and preventive care before rupture occurs.
