Kavya is the scion of the mighty family of media proprietors and politicians and took over the position of CEO of Sunrisers in 2018. Kavya was born in August 6, 1992 into a family of Chennai and got her commerce degree in Stella Maris College, Chennai and then got her MBA in the Warwick Business School. Kavya is the daughter of the chairman of the Sun Group and mother, Kaver Maran is the CEO of Solar TV Community Restricted. The Sun Group also owns T20 League of SunRisers Eastern Cape of Cricket South Africa besides the IPL franchise.

“My mother, my grandfather (were into cricket)… so cricket just playing on television 24/7 was a part and parcel of life [while] growing up,” Kavya said during a chat with Fortune India.

In 2016, Sunrisers Hyderabad became the first-time champions of IPL. In IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderab succeeded in making the final but the team was defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders in the final match.

In the 2018 version of the IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad had also been in the final.
