Uttarakhand Nurse Raped and Murdered Returning from Hospital; Suspect Arrested

A man was arrested in the case of raping and killing a nurse

Uttarakhand Nurse Raped and Murdered: Two weeks ago, a man was arrested in the case of raping and killing a nurse, when she was returning from the hospital to her home, in Uttarakhand, the victim was a 33-year-old woman.

The victim lives in Gadarpur’s Islamnagar and worked as a nurse at a private hospital in Nainital. She also has an 11-year-old daughter, and she lives in Bilaspur Colony.

The Indian Express reported the case, which took place in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district, and on August 14, the accused was arrested.

The reporter said that this horrific incident happened on July 30, the nurse works at a private hospital in Nainital and the nurse was found dead in an empty plot in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district.

The name of the accused who was arrested is Dharmendra Kumar, and he belongs to Bareilly, by profession, he is a daily wage labourer. He sexually assaulted and murdered the nurse while she was heading towards her home from the hospital.

When the victim didn’t reach home at previous night her sister filed a missing report on July 13, with the local police. The police found the victim’s body on August 8.

As per the police, the accused dragged the victim to the bushes and then he rapes her and then murdered the victim. After killing her he robbed her jewellery and fled.

The police looked at the video from the CCTV camera which showed the last location of the victim. The video showed the victim travelling in a tempo from Indra Chowk in Rudrapur. The police found the accused in Rajasthan, by tracking the victim’s phone to the location.

“The accused is a (drug) addict and does not know the woman. On the day of the incident, he saw the woman going alone. As per our information, he stopped the woman, who fought back fiercely. She was, however, overpowered and… strangled her to death.”

“He also sexually assaulted her. After the murder, he took the woman’s belongings and escaped,” SSP Manjunath T C told Express.
