Ganeshotsav 2025: BEST has made special arrangements to ensure smooth travel and power supply during Ganeshotsav. As part of the measures, 26 extra buses will run from August 27 to September 5, which includes Gauri immersion and Anant Chaturdashi, the peak festive days, The Indian Express reported.
These buses will mainly run from 10.30 pm to 6 am to cater to the late night passenger flow from pandals and immersion points. They will ply on routes such as Oshiwara, Dr M Iqbal Chowk near J J Hospital, Jijamata Park, Shivaji Nagar Terminus, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Deonar Depot, Bombay Port Trust Warehouse, Rani Lakshmibai Chowk, Pandit Paluskar Chowk at Opera House, Maharana Pratap Chowk in Mazgaon, Worli Depot, Shravan Yashwante Chowk in Kalachowki, Electric House, Santacruz Depot, Dadar Railway Station, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk near the Museum, and Prabodhankar Thackeray Udyan at Shivaji Park.
Bus inspectors and traffic officers will be deployed at high-demand stops, especially at Parel, Lalbaug, Girgaon and Khetwadi.

As per BMC’s directives, BEST’s street lighting department will install 2,723 lights across 71 procession routes, 19 immersion sites and 39 artificial ponds. At immersion points, 15 permanent electric towers have been erected to strengthen illumination. To ensure supply in case of disruption, BEST will deploy 8 diesel generator sets at major visarjan sites.
Along with power arrangements, BEST will operate special bus services across Mumbai during the festival period to accommodate the extra commuter traffic. Bus frequencies and route diversions near pandals and immersion points will be announced soon.

Trained personnel will be deployed across the city to monitor power supply and respond to any technical issues or emergencies.
With coordinated planning and ground support, authorities hope to make it a safe, fun and organized festival for all Mumbaikars.
“Every year our focus is to make the festival safe and comfortable for citizens. This year too, we have planned better lighting, backup supply, and additional buses to serve people,” quoted a BEST spokesperson as saying.
