Torrential Rains Claim 35 Lives in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, More Expected

Torrential Rains Claim 35 Lives: According to the official reports, 19 citizens of Andhra Pradesh died because of severe rainfall and 16 people died in Telangana due to heavy rain and floods.

Torrential Rains Claim 35 Lives in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

Torrential Rains Claim 35 Lives: Severe rainfall and flooding in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has caused serious damage to roads, lives, and property leading to a death toll of 35 people till now.

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have been experiencing critical rainfall over the past 3 days which has damaged roads and rail tracks, flooded thousands of acres of crops, and several damaged people's lives.

Relief and rescue efforts are trying to cope up with the situation and the ministers of both states are busy trying their best to keep the situation under control.

According to the official reports, 19 citizens of Andhra Pradesh died because of severe rainfall and 16 people died in Telangana due to heavy rain and floods.

These heavy rainfall conditions began on Saturday because of a depression in the Bay of Bengal and seriously affected these two states.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also said that more heavy rains are expected in some states on Tuesday.

In Telangana, heavy rains have flooded several low-lying areas, damaged corps, and even disrupted train and airplane operations.

The Minister in Telangana, Revanth Reddy said that the damage caused by the rains could be Rs 5000 crore and he has asked for the Centre for its assistance with Rs 2000 crore.

The state minister for information technology and industries, D Sridhar Babu told the press that they are still trying to figure out the damage caused to the states and soon will provide an estimation.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also reported that more rain is expected in Adilabad, Nizamabad, and Nirmal areas on Tuesday. The department also said that until 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, heavy rainfall is also expected in some areas of the Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Jagtial, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy districts.

In a statement, Reddy said that the families who have lost their members will get ₹5 lakh compensation.

In parts of Khammam where the flood hit, videos showed that water went into people's houses and the household items were being washed away by water.

The official reports stated that heavy landslides killed five people in Mogalrajapuram, Vijayawada, and one person each in Vijayawada Rural, G Kondru, and Reddygudem mandals.

The official further said that till now heavy floods and rainfall have affected about 450,000 people in the state and over 31,238 people have evacuated from their homes to 166 rescue camps.

The areas that were damaged severely are NTR, Guntur, Krishna, Eluru, Palnadu, Bapatla, and Prakasam, and twenty teams of the State Disaster Response Force and 19 of the National Disaster Response Force have been deployed to assist the people.
