Salman Khan House Firing Victim Anuj Thapan Dies: During his incarceration in Mumbai's crime branch lockup on Wednesday, Anuj Thapan died after allegedly trying to commit suicide. Thapan provided the gun used in the shooting outside Salman Khan's home.

Sources say Anuj Thapan, 32, who was arrested on April 26 from Punjab, went to a toilet attached to the police lockup at 11 am and took the extreme step.

According to PTI, an accidental death report will be filed at Azad Maidan police station in south Mumbai.

According to news agency PTI, Anuj Thapan, 23, hanged himself in the toilet of the lock-up using a bedsheet. He was rushed to the state-run GT Hospital, where he was declared dead during treatment.

In the lock-up, he stayed with ten other inmates guarded by four to five police officers.

Police said the shooters had practiced shooting in Bihar.

In April, he and another accused, Sonu Subhash Chander, allegedly provided the weapons used to fire outside the 'Tiger Zinda Hai' actor's Mumbai home.

Sources say Anuj Thapan's suicide is being investigated.

The CID (criminal investigation department) will question all policemen in the police station if there is a death in a lock-up, according to former Maharashtra senior police officer PK Jain.

As a former top cop, he said police check lock-ups for objects that could be used to commit suicide.

Also in custody are Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, who were seen on CCTV leaving the scene on a motorcycle the night of the incident.

In connection with the firing case, Mumbai Crime Branch said gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi have been declared wanted.

In a Facebook post following the attack, Anmol Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the firing outside Salman Khan's residence.

Mumbai Crime Branch reports that the shooters had reached Salman Khan's house four times before the shooting started.

The Crime Branch also staked out the actor's farmhouse, saying he hadn't visited his farmhouse for several days, so they planned to execute the shooting outside his plush Galaxy apartments.

On April 22, sleuths found Vicky Gupta's footprints as he fled Mumbai for Bhuj.

The gun was thrown into the Tapi River during their escape near Surat.

Since November 2022, Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar have raised Salman Khan's security level to Y-Plus.
