Congress Unveils Another Election List: The Congress kept the suspense going with just three days to go until the last day of submitting nominations for the prestigious Amethi and Raebareli constituencies by not naming candidates for them in its latest list of candidates for Lok Sabha elections released on Tuesday.

There are four candidates on the new list, including actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar from Gurgaon and former Union Minister Anand Sharma from Kangra.

The former MLA Satpal Raizada will fight against Union Minister Anurag Thakur, who has won four elections from the Hamirpur constituency in Himachal Pradesh.

Prem Kumar Dhumal, Mr Thakur's father, also held the seat.

The party pitted Bhushan Patil, the vice president of its Mumbai unit, against Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who is running in his first Lok Sabha election.

There were some high-profile constituencies on the list, but what was left out was more noteworthy.

A buzz had been building about the Congress finally deciding on the names for Raebareli and Amethi.

A protest was even staged earlier on Tuesday by the Amethi unit of the Congress demanding the declaration of a candidate from the Gandhi Parivar.

Sources told India Today TV that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will not run in the Lok Sabha elections amid the ongoing suspense over Amethi and Raebareli Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.

In 2019, former president Rahul Gandhi lost his family bastion to Smriti Irani of the BJP and is expected to run from Amethi again, along with Wayanad in Kerala.

Nominations for both elections, which will take place on May 20, must be submitted by Friday, May 3.
