Russia Addresses Missile Strike Theories After Azerbaijan Airlines Crash in Kazakhstan
Cautions from Russia about speculation over the accident of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane were accompanied by exhortations to exercise patience during investigations

Russia Addresses Missile Strike Theories: A call has been made by Russia for patience and caution with regard to any speculation concerning the crash of a plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines in Kazakhstan that killed 38 people. It goes on urging the public not to jump to conclusions as the investigation unfolds, even though there are some hack jobs that have sought to tie in missile strikes.

Conclusion drawing should be refrained from before any findings from the investigation, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. “It is premature to speculate on the cause of the crash before the investigation completes its work,” Peskov stated on Thursday.
An Embraer EMBR3.SA passenger plane crashed in Kazakhstan near Aktau Wednesday, killing 38 people onboard. The flight had to divert from a part of Russian airspace that has recently been affected by drone activity in Ukraine.
This has caused considerable speculation, including suggestion of a possible Russian air defense strike, which has been denied by Moscow.
Updates on Investigation
Kazakh authorities confirmed the recovery of 38 bodies from the crash site, while a minimum of 29 survivors rescued have been admitted to hospitals. Information about their injuries, however, is being withheld. The flight, which was intended for Makhachkala in Russia, diverted to Aktau because of inclement weather.
A preliminary investigation indicated a bird strike as a possible cause of the crash, but several experts in aviation argue otherwise. There are those interpreting what the crash site footage suggests: by their reasoning, the type of damage done could be caused by a missile or other attack rather than a bird collision.
Peskov again insisted it needs patience against premature conclusions. “It is wrong to speculate before the investigation is complete,” he noted.

Aircraft and Flight Details
Embraer 190 carries 62 passengers including people travelling here from Arabstan, Rusia, and many more countries. Five crew members accompany these passengers. Azerbaijan Airlines reported that its aircraft went through a comprehensive technical overhaul this October and has no known faults during this flight. The airline has refrained from commenting on the speculation as President Samir Rzayev stated that there is an ongoing "detailed investigation."
In precautionary measures, Azerbaijan Airlines has announced a temporary suspension of flights to Grozny and Makhachkala until further notice. Analysts have raised eyebrows at this move by the airline, hinting that safety may be of concern regarding that region's airspace, thus: "It is really not something that would easily happen to an airline - to cancel all flights to a region without a concrete reason," said Andrei Litvinov, an aviation expert and pilot.
Conspiracy Theories in the Aftermath
All the different kinds of conspiracy theories are trending on social media in connection with the crash, one alleging that a Russian anti-aircraft system is to be used because of the high tensions in the area. Increased drone attacks raise fears of mistaken or deliberate strikes on civilian flights.
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, sources from Ukraine and aviation safety consultants have even suggested the possibility of missile strike concerning the event with some recent developments in the region. However, Kazakhstan's emergency services have clarified that there is an ongoing investigation about the crash cause, and no final statements will come.
