Sonu Sood Declines Chief Minister Offer: Actor Sonu Sood, also known for his humanitarian works during the pandemic, recently shared that he has been offered high-profile political posts in the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister as well as Rajya Sabha standing. He, however, declined all these offers from very powerful people.
“I was offered the position of Chief Minister. When I declined, they proposed I become the Deputy Chief Minister. They even offered me a Rajya Sabha seat, assuring me that I wouldn’t have to contest elections,” Sood shared in an interview with Humans of Bombay.

Though he felt so honored by these offers, Sood said, I have decided not to step into politics because I do not want to lose my independence.
“People enter politics either for power or money. I’m not drawn to either. I’m already helping people on my own terms. If I joined politics, I’d have to answer to others, and that loss of freedom worries me,” he said.
Sood likened the allure of rising to great heights to higher altitudes where oxygen is scarce. “Sustaining oneself at such levels is the real challenge,” he added.
Some were involved with promises of high security and giving me an official house in Delhi. That could do nothing for me.

“While it’s flattering and exciting to hear such things, I’m not ready right now. Perhaps in the future, I might think differently—never say never. For now, the actor-director within me still has much to offer. I respect politicians and have friends doing remarkable work, but politics isn’t for me at the moment,” Sood explained.
In fact, his sister Malvika Sood joined Congress in 2022, contested the Moga assembly seat, and was defeated by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Amandeep Kaur Arora.
