North-East District Delhi Police arrested six robbers under Operation Ankush in 24 hours

The special operation “Ankush” launched by the North-East District is continued with the objective to curb street and organized crime, to deter the criminals and anti-social elements and more importantly to enhance a sense of safety among citizens.
On January 23, a PCR Call regarding robbery on the knifepoint, near Gagan Cinema, T-Point, was received at Nand Nagri police station, Delhi. Immediately, the police team comprising HC Devender and Const. Naveen reached the spot and contacted the complainant.
“In his complaint, Govind stated that two boys robbed him of his wallet on the knifepoint and fled. On the description of the assailants described by the complainant, both the police persons started to search and after 2-3 hours apprehended two persons namely Salman @ Poppo and Mohsin near the area of Gagan Cinema T-point,” Sanjay Kumar Sain, DCP, North-East District, New Delhi, said.
During the cursory search, a knife and the robbed wallet of the caller was recovered from Salman. One mobile phone make Oppo was recovered from the possession of Mohsin.
During interrogation, they confessed to their crime and revealed that the Oppo mobile phone recovered from them was robbed on the same morning. Accordingly, a separate FIR was registered in this regard. Upon sustained enquiry, they disclosed their multiple involvements in the robbery cases.
“In another case, during the investigation of case FIR No 52/22 dated January 12, under police station Seelampur, Delhi vide which complainant Ravi Sharma was robbed of Rs. 1000/- near Bikaner Sweets, Seelampur, Police team scanned and analyzed the CCTV footage of the nearby vicinity but no clue was found,” DCP Sain said.
On the intervening night of January 22 and 23, while the police team comprising ASI Vikram Dutt, Const. Jaiveer Singh, Const. Navneesh and Const. Vikas were patrolling in the area, they received secret information and immediately on the instruction of SHO of Seelampur they conducted a raid on Gurudwara road near Munna Ki Parking, Seelampur Delhi and apprehended two persons namely Nazim & Manoj @ Paya.
On examination, they confessed to their crime and revealed their involvements in other criminal cases also.
He further informed, “In the third case, on January 21, a police team comprising SI Arvind, Const. Hawa Singh and Const. Arpit were deployed for checking at a picket near Shani Mandir, A- block Main Pusta Road, at about 09:20 PM. They noticed that two boys on a scooty were coming towards picket, but after seeing the police presence, they tried to make a sharp U-turn in a bid to flee from the spot.”
Alert checking staff swiftly acted and apprehended both of them after a short chase on the foot. During a cursory search, a button actuated knife was recovered from the possession of pillion rider and the scooty, they were riding, also found to be stolen from Sahadra.
During the course of the investigation, their identity was established as Feshan@Sher Khan, resident of New Mustafabad Delhi, and Gaurav @ Gireesh, resident of Chand Bagh Delhi.
They confessed to their crime and disclosed that they have actively been committing snatching, robbery, theft in the East, North East and Shahdra areas.
