National Education Day 2024: National Education Day is celebrated every year on 11th November on Maulana Abul Kalam Azad's birth anniversary, who was India's first education minister too.

His contributions to the scientific understanding in India, primary, and secondary educational systems have been remembered today.

It also provides some time to think of what role education gives to the nation in terms of innovation, creativity, and future.

National Education Day 2024: Date and History

National Education Day in India is observed on 11th November every year. It is a tribute paid to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad became the first education minister of India after independence in the year 1947.

Every year on November 11, India observes National Education Day in the memory of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad-first education minister of India after independence. National Education Day would be on Monday, November 11, 2024.

The government of India declared November 11th to be National Education Day in the year 2008, in respect of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad's services toward the betterment of the country's education system. Azad was a scholar, educationist, freedom fighter, and senior leader of Indian National Congress. Azad was born on 18 Nov,1888.

He established such organizations as University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Under his leadership, he established many educational institutions. Among these are the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Sahitya Academy, Lalit Kala Academy, Sangeet Natak Academy, and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

He also instituted the first Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kharagpur.

National Education Day 2024: Significance and Celebrations

As Maulana Abul Kalam Azad had a great impact on the Indian educational scenario, on this very day, the masses can be reminded that education falls under one's inherent rights, and it goes on to elevate society as well.

School children may arrange cultural activities, debates, and discussions among others focused upon Azad's teachings and achievements.

Since Maulana Abul Kalam Azad had a major impact on India's educational system, this day serves as a reminder of the value of education as a fundamental right and a means of advancing society. In addition to cultural programs, schoolchildren can participate in debates, discussions, and themed programs around Azad's teachings and accomplishments.

In order to address contemporary problems in the Indian educational system, educational institutions also host conferences or seminars where shareholders and specialists can identify problems and suggest solutions.
