Jensen Huang Nvidia CEO reveal why he doesn't wear a watch
Viral video: While talking about his unique perception of time, Jensen Huang says that he's "not particularly ambitious." He claims that he never felt a need to do something greater. But Huang believes in bettering the things he is already doing.
Today, where time is money in a world calculating everything, there can hardly be anything more conventional than what Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has done. Backed by one of the world's most powerful technology companies, the CEO recently revealed an audience as to why he doesn't wear a watch. According to him, it is because that reflects his belief in the power of the present.

“Most people don’t know this, but I don’t wear a watch,” Huang explains. “The reason is simple: the present moment matters most. It might sound surprising, but I’m not driven by ambition to achieve more. My goal is to excel in what I’m doing now, not to pursue more; I let the world come to me,” he states.
“People who know me understand that Nvidia operates without a detailed long-term plan. Our definition of a ‘long-term plan’ is simply, ‘What are we working on today?’” he adds.
"Now is the most important time," Huang said, giving a glimpse of his philosophy. For someone piloting a company whose market valuation has mushroomed in recent years, Huang's focus is not on accomplishing more but on being world-class in what he's doing.

Huang's style has moulded Nvidia's operational approach, too, with flexibility over fixed strategies, Leiserson said. "Nvidia doesn't have a long-term strategy," he continued. "Our definition of a long-term plan is simply: What are we doing today?"
In 2023, he shared an encounter with a Japanese gardener that has remained with him as a guiding lesson. When Huang visited a temple in Kyoto, he saw how the Japanese gardener was carefully attending to the moss: perfect, green, under heavy heat, little space, few tools. Asked about his secret, the gardener only said, "I have plenty of time."
This approach, which looked so cool and composed, has really left a deep impression on Huang, and he endorses it as one of his guiding principles.
"This is the best career advice I can give: Now is the most important time-just focus on the present. I'm rarely chasing things...I'm focused on now. I'm enjoying my job."
