Mobile Internet Ban in Manipur: The Manipur government has extended the suspension of mobile internet in 9 districts till December 7 due to law and order issues. The suspension was first imposed on November 16 after violence erupted after several bodies were found and various sectors were affected.

The Manipur government on Thursday extended the mobile internet suspension for 2 more days for 9 districts. This is to prevent further unrest after recent violent incidents.

"The state government after reviewing the prevailing law and order situation and its correlation with the general operation of internet services has decided to continue suspension of mobile internet and mobile data services including VSATs and VPN services."

Internet was suspended on November 16 after bodies were found in the rivers and violence broke out. Broadband was restored on November 19 for essential services, mobile internet is still suspended.

The protesters attacked the houses of legislators and ministers and vandalised police stations, prompting the Centre to reintroduce the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act in five police station limits and send 90 more companies of armed police force to the state.
