In January 2024, Bolton had a second surgery after getting an infection. He completed radiation and chemotherapy in October the same year. Since glioblastoma is very recurrent, he currently takes MRIs after every two months. Coming out about his recovery, Isa revealed to the outlet on Friday that the To Love Somebody hitmaker is in great spirits and in great health.
“He has a lot of challenges, and we do have great days and some tough days, but in general, he’s very strong,” she went on, adding, “His mobility and cognition have been terrific. So, we’re in a really good place right now.” After his diagnosis, Bolton was left in the care of his daughters whose involvement as primary caregivers was three days a week, including Isa who spent three days a week with him at home. She frequently is in the company of her sons.
He lives in his home in Westport, Connecticut which he has been living in more than 30 years. Taryn and her daughters are living with him full-time, and Holly who is a mother of one son visits him monthly and spends a week. In response to the outlet, the When a Man Loves a Woman singer said that support by his daughters means everything that he may never express.
“My daughters have been constant in a way that grounds me,” Bolton said. “On the harder days, they help me stay centered; on the lighter ones, they bring out the laughter that makes everything feel possible again. They remind me of who I am and what’s worth fighting for.”
The former Blackjack lead singer also mentioned that he is extremely thankful to be having the time with his family during his health fight. “This past year has tested me in ways I never imagined, but it’s also made me more aware of the moments that fill life with meaning: having meals with my family, hearing my grandkids laugh, stepping outside on a beautiful day and just taking it in,” he explained.
