India Squad for South Africa ODIs Live: KL Rahul Named Captain, Bumrah Rested

India Squad for South Africa ODIs Live: The BCCI and India are to announce both T20I and ODI team squads of the next set of games they have against South Africa, with five T20Is and three ODIs awaiting the white ball. The big news will be the come back of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma: both seasoned international players will play in an Indian shirt at home soil the first time since February this year. Following their Sydney performance that gave them confidence and time in the middle last month will see them desire to be in that same kind of form and they will want to maintain that level of performance in the 50-over format.

The alternative concern will be one of the ODI captaincy: as Shubman Gill is laid off with a neck spasm and Shreyas Iyer recovers his wounded spleen down under, both participants of the newly-constituted leadership team will be out of commission. Who takes over in their stead? Not to leave out is the forerunner who is KL Rahul, but there are two former captains in the team.

Of course, KL had been the previous captain of India - 12 matches between 2022 and 2023 India squad announcement for South Africa ODIs, T20s LIVE Updates. His record in these 12 matches stands at 8-4 with 6 of the matches being played against the Proteas.

It is not a pretty record against South Africa, he has a record of 2 wins and 4 losses, but he fared much better when the team returned to the Rainbow Nation, as he managed a 2-1 series win.

He is also the one who has guided the team to two wins against Australia in September 2023 as well as two over Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.
