The increase in ex-gratia that had been continuously requested to the government will surely be given someday. This will indeed prove to be effective and offer at least some money help to these families in their crises.
"Ex gratia" payments mean the sums paid by the government for the family of the deceased, in case of an unforseen loss or tragic death. Usually without any expectations of return, these funds are simply aimed at helping the family members meet their immediate finances as they understand and recover from the loss.
Increased pension for 1957 Hindi movement activists
Apart from the hike in ex gratia, the Chief Minister has also announced a raise in the monthly pension of freedom fighters of the 1957 Hindi Movement from now on. The pension was earlier Rs 15,000 monthly, now increased to Rs 20,000. This is intended to better provide for freedom fighters who have fought for Hindi as a national language.
