ED Files Money Laundering Case Against TMC Leader Mahua Moitra
TMC leader recently complained to the Election Commission that the BJP was using the CBI and the ED to disrupt her campaign and tarnish her image before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

ED Files Money Laundering Case Against TMC Leader Mahua Moitra: According to sources, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a money laundering case against senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra in connection with the cash-for-query case.
Days after she was summoned by the agency to appear for questioning in its Delhi office, the 49-year-old politician skipped the interview. A Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) violation case has been brought against Moitra and businessman Darshan Hiranandani by the ED.
Following allegations from BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, which she denied, the CBI raided her property regarding the cash-for-query case.
Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee claims Moitra was thrown out because she spoke against the BJP in Lok Sabha.
Known for her outspokenness and fiery debates, Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha last year for accepting gifts and illegal gratification by a parliamentary Ethics Committee. She has been renominated by the TMC from the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency.
Although she expressed skepticism about the election panel taking any action on the matter, the TMC leader recently complained to the Election Commission that the BJP was using the CBI and the ED to disrupt her campaign and tarnish her image before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey forwarded the complaint to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla on behalf of the industrialist.
As Moitra raised questions about deals of the Adani Group, she claims she is being targeted.
According to the Trinamool leader, the Election Commission has lost its independence since its commissioners are handpicked by a committee where the Centre holds a two-thirds majority.
Despite all efforts made by the BJP to "sound the death knell" for constitutional democracy, India is too great a country to be destroyed.
As she expressed confidence about winning the Lok Sabha elections, she had said that "My victory would be a fitting response to the ploy to expel me and harass me" through ED and CBI raids," ds. Krishnanagar will go to polls on May 13. The vote counting will take place on June 4.
