It is expected that Annie Raja will file her nomination on Wednesday, the same day Congress candidate and sitting MP Rahul Gandhi will file his.
CPI general secretary D Raja's wife Annie Raja holds the position of general secretary of the party's National Federation of Indian Women and is a member of the CPI's national executive.
Congress and CPI are partners in the Indian opposition bloc, but they're fierce rivals in Kerala with both parties fielding their strongest candidates.
