Delta Plane Crashes : A Delta Air Lines jet attempting to land at Toronto Pearson Airport amid strong winds and drifting snow crashed.
Despite the aircraft’s dramatic landing, all 80 people aboard the plane, Flight 4819 from Minneapolis, were evacuated.
Photos and video showed passengers coming down the plane’s front and rear doors and walking away on the snow-covered tarmac as firefighters hosed down the aircraft.
Toronto Pearson Fire Chief Todd Aitken said 18 passengers were taken to the hospital. Earlier in the day, Ornge air ambulance said it was transporting one pediatric patient to Toronto’s SickKids hospital and two injured adults to other hospitals in the city.

Emergency personnel reached the plane within a few minutes and Aitken said the response “went as planned.” He said "the runway was dry and there was no cross-wind conditions.”
Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in a statement, "The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected by today's incident at Toronto-Pearson International Airport. I want to express my thanks to the many Delta and Endeavor team members and the first responders on site."
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow wrote on social media, "I'm relieved to learn that all passengers and crew are accounted for after today's plane crash at Toronto Pearson. Thank you to the first responders, crew and airport staff for their quick actions and commitment to keeping everyone safe."
The crash is being investigated by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada with assistance from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board.

Among those commenting on the crash is Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who said: "Thinking of those on the Delta flight that left Minneapolis and crash landed in Toronto. Thankful for all the first responders and those on the plane who worked to get everyone to safety and those injured to care. We must get to the bottom of what happened.”
