PM Modi Welcomes Qatar Amir: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday received the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
The Qatar Amir is on a two-day state visit to India. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials and a business delegation.
He had earlier come to India on a State Visit in March 2015. The Amir of Qatar will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan on February 18.

The Amir of Qatar's India visit comes at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi. This would be the second state visit of Hamad Al Thani to India. He earlier visited India in March 2015, stated the Ministry of External Affairs.
"Went to the airport to welcome my brother, Amir of Qatar H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. Wishing him a fruitful stay in India and looking forward to our meeting tomorrow.," PM Modi wrote on X.
State Visit to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
The Amir of Qatar is on a state visit to India from February 17 to 18. During his visit, he is scheduled to meet External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and President Droupadi Murmu. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the visit as a step that will “provide further momentum to our growing multifaceted partnership.”

“A special gesture for a special friend. PM Modi welcomed HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, at the airport as he arrived in New Delhi on his second State visit to India. The visit will further strengthen the bonds of India-Qatar partnership,” Randhir Jaiswal posted on X.
India, Qatar to discuss ways to boost trade, investments
India and Qatar are set to strengthen their economic and trade ties with the India-Qatar Joint Business Forum, scheduled for February 18, 2025, in New Delhi. The Joint Business Forum will be organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, which will convene top business leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to explore investment opportunities, technological collaboration, and economic partnerships.
The event takes place on the sidelines of the visit of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The business forum will be graced by Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar, and Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, who will deliver keynote addresses. The high-level Qatari delegation includes leading enterprises from energy, infrastructure, finance, technology, food security, logistics, advanced manufacturing, and innovation.
