Their sixth associate and the gang leader, Salim alias Beena alias Diwanji passed away in the course of the trial. The other two suspects were also killed by different incidents with the Haryana Police and the Noida STF.
murder occurred on the evening of July 28-29, 2016, when a family of six individuals, belonging to Noida, was heading to their family village in Shahjahanpur in order to take part in a ritual in the context of a death.
Close to the flyover by Dostpur area, Dehat Kotwali, the suspect used to press his vehicle to a halt by throwing an iron object at his vehicle. When the vehicle halted, the gang took the family as hostages, the teenage daughter, her mother and father, her aunt and uncle and her cousin and hauled them to the field on the other side of the road.
The male members were tied and raped the teenager and her mother. The accused broke into the family and stole their valuables, and escaped with them.
The case was later resumed by the Central Bureau of Investigation =CBI) at the directives of the Allahabad High Court due to the furor that surrounded the crime and how the state police failed to apprehend the actual goers behind the crime.
Jubair, Salim, Sajid were charged at first and later a second charge was brought against Dharmveer, Naresh and Sunil.
Once the verdict was declared by the judge, the culprits asserted that they were suffering even though they were innocent.
The families of the victims expressed disappointment that the accused were sentenced to death penalty but expressed happiness that the verdict was reached after an almost decade.
