Trump expressed his admiration for Musk, one of the largest donors to his presidential campaign. “Isn’t it nice to have smart people we can rely on? Don’t we want that? But no, he’s not going to be president, that I can tell you,” Trump said.
"You know why he can't be? He wasn't born in this country," Trump said of the Tesla and SpaceX boss, who was born in South Africa.

“You know, they’re on a new kick,” he said. “All the different hoaxes. The new one is that President Trump has ceded the presidency to Elon Musk. No, no, that’s not happening.”
The influence of Musk, who will serve as Trump's "efficiency czar," has become a focus point for Democratic attacks, with questions raised over how an unelected citizen can wield so much power.

Musk’s political influence has become a focal point in recent months, drawing both admiration and concern. Musk has earned considerable attention in political circles. His business dealings with the US government, such as his companies' heavy reliance on federal contracts and regulations, have only added to the scrutiny.
Musk replied, "Yup" on Friday to an X post written on Friday that read, "The reason the Dems keep saying president Musk is they are deliberately trying to drive a wedge between Musk and Trump, appealing to Trump's ego. Would be cool to see Trump call them out on their obvious ploy."
