Bengaluru Sees Rare Traffic-Free Roads on Varamahalakshmi Festival
The commute in Bengaluru was tranquil and the likes of users on social media posted their positive traffic experiences.

Bengaluru which is also infamous as a traffic snarl and congested road city had a very calm day on Thursday due to the festival.
The sigh of relief of commuters was summarized in a viral Reddit post, “Today’s traffic and weather was reminiscent of early 2010s Bengaluru. What took me 2 hours to travel yesterday, took me 35 minutes today. Loved how namma ooru felt today.”

It immediately caught on in the social media where various Bengalureans joined in and posted their accounts of a smoother-than-usual drive. Traffic was the topic of exasperation but once today it was nostalgia and appreciation.
Reactions online:
“Yeah... today’s office ride was bliss!!” wrote one user. Another observed, “I even noticed and was surprised to see no two-wheeler parking on the busy roadsides today and also much less traffic than usual.”
The city, which is characterized by congestion whether on the road, or on peak hours, had undergone a change. One commenter noted, “It’s not the number of people causing traffic, it’s the number of vehicles. You don’t need killing to solve it, just good public transport and priority for people outside cars.”
Others reminisced about a simpler time, “I miss the early 2000s when we could go to Nandi Hills with family.” Even the metro of the city that is usually very crowded in case of the rush hours also appeared to be more tolerable. “Metro is also not as crowded!” a user noted.
The day may have been very short, but it was an idea of what Bengaluru would be like in the presence of efficient public transport, reduced traffic in the streets, and civilized urban planning.
The Google trend for the keyword Varamahalakshmi pooja timings 2025, showed that there was a sharp increase and maximum search was done on Friday itself on the day of the festival. Karnataka gave the highest number of searches followed by Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.
Among the related trending queries were "Varamahalakshmi pooja wishes," "Varamahalakshmi wishes 2025," "Brendan Taylor," "Bayern vs Tottenham," and "Intel CEO."
