Ranbir, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey, Yash, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Rakul. Everyone nailed it. Jatayu scene is insane. And wait for the moment when the dharti amber theme comes. CLAPSSSS. PLEASE GO WATCH IT.”
With an estimated cost of ₹4000 crore, Ramayana is among the world's costliest movies, and not just in India. It is being promoted as India's first movie version of Hollywood blockbuster and is being produced under the VFX wing of eight-time Oscar-winning studio DNEG. The makers have tied up with Sony Pictures for its worldwide release to give it the largest release for any Indian film anywhere - in 70,000 screens.
Ramayana is directed by director Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Prime Focus, the production house of Namit and Monster Mind Creations, Yash. Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The first part will be released globally on 5th November 2026 and the second part will be released on Diwali 2027. The movies will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages in India.
In India, a lot of questions are asked like, ‘Why they are making the Ramayana when there have been so many Ramayanas? I'm like, 'Listen, this is the Ramayana that you have not seen. No television show, no street play, no Ram Leela has ever brought you this Ramayana and this traditional way of doing it, like an Avatar or an Avengers movie or think about Spider-Man or The Odyssey. But we're putting Ramayana in line with all of those spectacles," said Namit Malhotra to PTI.
