Delhi Court Extends Judicial Custody of Arvind Kejriwal And K Kavitha Until May 7: In a case related to the Excise Policy scam, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Leader K Kavitha were granted judicial custody until May 7.

Kaveri Baweja, special judge for CBI and ED matters, extended their custody after they were produced through video conference at the Rouse Avenue court on the expiration of their remand.

Earlier, the court had rejected the Aam Aadmi Party convenor's request for a daily 15-minute consultation with his doctor in the presence of his wife Sunita Kejriwal.

As directed by the Delhi court, necessary medical treatment must be provided, and if any special consultation is required, the Tihar jail authorities must consult an endocrinologist and a diabetologist formed by the AIIMS director.

It was on March 15 that the central probe agency arrested Kavitha for being a key member of the “South Group”, which allegedly offered a big share of liquor licenses in the national capital in exchange for kickbacks of Rs 100 crore to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

According to jail officials, Kejriwal was given a "low dose" of insulin after his blood sugar level spiked on Monday evening.

On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, AAP welcomed this news and said the development was a result of Hanuman's blessings.

Doctors at AIIMS gave Kejriwal two units of low-dose insulin on Monday evening, a Tihar official said.

In contrast, the ED arrested Chanpreet Singh, who allegedly managed Aam Aadmi Party's funds for the Goa assembly elections 2022, obtained through bribes in Delhi excise policy.

Besides Manish Sisodia, AAP's Sanjay Singh is also accused in the ED case. While Singh is still behind bars following a concession from the ED, Sisodia has been released on bail recently.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an excise policy now scrapped by the Delhi government. He has been lodged in Tihar jail since April 1.
