Chennai Auto Driver No Stop For ATM Rules Go Viral: Upon entering the auto on Tuesday, a visual artist booked a ride through an app to read a frame message prominently displayed inside - "Gpay not available. No ATM withdrawal".
Digital transactions have grown exponentially in India since its launch. Most people no longer carry cash and rely on digital payments. While many people have taken advantage of the facility, some auto drivers and vendors have not.
A woman who was travelling in Chennai recently shared a picture of the rules of the auto driver, which immediately went viral.
User No Context Suvee posted a picture of a car with a message inside that said, "Gpay not available. No ATM withdrawal". She wrote in the caption, "It was nice knowing you."
In big cities, UPI payment has become the norm, especially for cabs and autos booked through ride-share apps.
One X user shared that he took the same car a week ago and the driver was "very angry". Another user shared that the driver also was rude to her "for no reason".
"Working in corporate Bangalore areas, you'll have the opposite experience. None of the drivers prefer cash." said a user on X.
The other person said, "Tell auto anna to stop for fuel and you pay at the petrol pump."
There have been over two lakh views and seven thousand likes on the post since it was shared.
