Baby John Box Office Day 4: Varun Dhawan's Film Collects ₹23.90 Crore, Competes with Pushpa 2
A continuous downward drift in collections since its release, Varun Dhawan's Baby John showed some minor resurgence at the box office.
Baby John Box Office Day 4: On Saturday, after a continuous downward drift in collections since its release, Varun Dhawan's Baby John showed some minor resurgence at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film collected ₹4.25 crore in its fourth day, bringing its total domestic earnings to ₹23.90 crore. This uptick was despite several cancelled shows.

Baby John had a poor start on its first day, which was a Wednesday, at ₹11.25 crore even with a holiday. On Thursday, there was a decline of 57.78% to ₹4.75 crore, and then on Friday it dropped by another 23% to ₹3.65 crore. Saturday saw the first slight recovery, which is a positive trend for the film, indicating hope. But the box office star for Baby John is still Pushpa 2 that snatches away all business even in its fourth week. On Saturday, Pushpa 2 earned an additional ₹12.5 crore, putting it in stark comparison to Baby John.
Bhediya is compared to Varun Dhawan's most recent theatrical release, and it rather neglects Baby John in its entire run. In fact, Bhediya grossed ₹32.4 crore during its first four days, compared to Baby John's total of ₹23.90 crore. Baby John, directed by Kalees, will also star in the picture with a cast that includes Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Zara Zyanna, and Jackie Shroff, and the movie is a remake of Atlee's 2016 Tamil sleeper hit Theri.

Mixed reviews have been given by critics, praising the cast but censoring the execution. Showsha, News18, hailed Varun Dhawan's top-notch action as DCP Satya Verma, accompanied by versatile and high-octane numbers like Nain Matakka. But, the pacing of the film is very slow along with a predictable storyline and, of course, forced humor. Special cameos by Sanya Malhotra and Salman Khan are termed underwhelming and fail to add much to the narrative.
An excerpt from the review reads, “What stands out most in Baby John is its stellar casting. Kudos to the casting director! Varun Dhawan shines as DCP Satya Verma, bringing the right mix of swagger and depth to his character. From portraying fearlessness to vulnerability and humour, Dhawan proves he is a complete package. His high-energy performance in the peppy track Nain Matakka is particularly noteworthy. However, the film falters in its writing and direction. The plot feels stretched, with a sluggish first half that echoes Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore. Although the second half gains momentum, it remains predictable, lacking suspense or originality. Unnecessary humour further detracts from the narrative. Sanya Malhotra’s special appearance, singing a classical rendition of Sheila Ki Jawani, feels forced and misses the mark entirely. The much-hyped Salman Khan cameo also disappoints. Arriving near the film’s end, it feels tacked on, adding no depth or value to the story."
