World No Tobacco Day 2024; Check these best practices to quit Smoking and tobacco cravings

World No Tobacco Day 2024: World No Tobacco Day is a significant day for peoples who smoke, this day is observed on May 31 every year and various social workers, organizations and groups spread the drawbacks of smoking and how is it affecting your health.

As per the reports from the World Health Organisation (WHO), globally nearly 37 million children aged 13 to 15 consume Tobacco, and 20% of the 15-year-old child use e-cigarette.

Another report by WHO also says that around 7 million people die every year due to the consumption of Tobacco among which nearly 1.3 million are not smokers but are “second-hand smokers.”

However, World No Tobacco Day was established by the WHO in 1988 and various groups put up events to honor this day and make smokers recognize the health risks associated with Tobacco use.

Best practices to quit Smoking and tobacco cravings

If you are a Tobacco user and want to get rid of smoking, we have mentioned some effective tips that you can follow to prevent yourself from smoking:

Use of Nicotine

Nicotine is one of the best choices for people who smoke to get rid of smoking, it is a type of drug that will reduce your cravings for smoking.

Nicotine comes in the form of nicotine patches, gums, tablets, and lozenges which you can buy without any doctor’s prescription.

Reduce it one by one

However, you won’t be able to reduce it from one pack a day to only one in day, it will take some time to totally stop consuming Tobacco. For example, if you consume 2 packs of cigarettes in a day then try to reduce it to one a day for a week then the next week try to make it only 5 in a day, and slowly by slowly, you will come to Zero.

Keep Yourself Busy

Try to keep yourself busy with some task whether playing, working, or exercising whenever you get cravings for cigarettes.

Keeping yourself busy when you get cravings will help it to go away for some time thus preventing you from smoking.

However, exercise will keep your body healthy, and active and your mind focused on your goal to avoid cigarettes.

Take less stress

Many people consume cigarettes to get rid of their stress and anxiety, however, to avoid this you should do some meditation to keep your mind calm, or if you are in such a place where you can’t do meditation then just breathe in and breathe out 5 times whenever you get the cravings.

Your willingness

However, everything is not dependent only on just medicines you also have to put your efforts into making it happen.

If you are willing to give up on smoking then you should be dedicated to the task and should keep it always in mind, take medicines and do whatever the doctors have prescribed you.
