New FLirt Variant Cases Surge In India: India has seen a significant rise in cases of the FLirt Variant, Maharashtra has found 91 cases of the new COVID-19 Omicron subvariant KP.2.
This variant is more common than the previous JN.1 variation and is now the main cause of infections in many countries.
In Pune, a total of 51 cases were recorded and in Thane, 20 cases of FLiRT were reported.
Till now, India has recorded a total of 250 COVID-19 cases so far, and most of them are linked to KP.2 and KP1.1.
Many more people in the US, UK, and South Korea have caught COVID-19 because of FLiRT versions.
Experts say that FLiRT variants can get around protection from vaccines and past infections.
What is the FLiRT Variant?
KP.2 is a sub-variant of the Omicron branch that has been changed in new ways. The name FLiRT for KP.2 comes from the letters that stand for two immune escape changes that help the virus get past antibodies.
As a result, this variant has replaced the previously circulating JN.1 variant.

Causes and Symptoms of FLirt
However, FLiRT is unique because it can defend itself from previous vaccines and past infections.
It has the same symptoms as older versions, such as fever, cough, tiredness, and stomach problems.
According to doctors people who are affected with FLirt Varaint have fevers or chills, coughs, sore throats, headaches, muscle aches, trouble breathing, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, brain fog, feeling less awake and aware, and stomach problems.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the US say that there are no signs yet that KP.2 would make people sicker than other types.
