Women Clash Over Kannada-Hindi Dispute in Bengaluru Metro, Video Goes Viral

A video of two women at a Namma Metro station in Bengaluru having a heated talk has gone viral on the internet.

The fight allegedly arose over the language preference, where one woman demanded to speak Kannada as the other declined and spoke Hindi and this compelled the tension in the station.

The video depicts the two women standing in front of a ticket booth, having a verbal argument.

There is a woman in the video wearing a black burqa who is heard saying, Speak Hindi. Poking at her counterpart, who points out to her the necessity of speaking Kannada, she adds, “Are you the Chief Minister? Get lost."

"Tu aurat hai kya Siddaramaiah ki?"; taunted the furious Hindi-speaking Muslim lady to the Kannada Hindu woman.

The argument gets stronger when she uses derogatory comments to the saree-clad Kannada speaker, such as,“Are you Siddaramaiah’s woman?"

As the dialogue progresses, the woman speaking in Kannada keeps on urging, Kannada.. Kannada, the other is not ready to switch languages, continuing the battle.

The video has had a lot of publicity on the social media with mixed reactions being received by the netizens.

The increasing language tensions were the worries of some commenters, one Reddit user wrote,, “Every day there seems to be a fight over Kannada—why so much intolerance nowadays?"

An X user, meanwhile, wrote,“The situation is so confused that it doesn’t really warrant outrage or a hullabaloo from language warriors. Time and energy saved."
