UP approves four-lane bridge over Hindon River barrage to ease traffic congestion
The government ministers claimed that the bridge will be 200 metres long and cost approximately 51 crore to enable people to commute between Siddharth Vihar, Vijay Nagar, Indirapuram, and Vasundhara.
The Uttar Pradesh Avas Vikas Parishad has granted an in-principle permission of the construction of a four-lane bridge at Hindon river barrage. This relocation is expected to make commuters travel to trans-Hindon regions and Hindon elevated road to Delhi, according to officials.
The officials also stated that the 200 metre long bridge will cost approximately 51 crore and it will be constructed by the UP State Bridge Corporation Limited.

“The in-principal approval has been given to the project and it is likely to get complete in one year. Once completed, it will help commuters to travel between Siddharth Vihar, Vijay Nagar, Indirapuram, and Vasundhara. It will also provide a short-cut to reach the Hindon elevated road,” said AK Mittal, superintending engineer of UP Avas Vikas.
At present, the Barrage of Hindon has a one-lane road which is currently utilized by light vehicles like two-wheelers and bicycles. “The new bridge will provide a stable and better connectivity for other types of vehicles. These vehicles can use the two new extensions of the Hindon elevated road to Delhi, saving time and distance,” Mittal added.
In April, 2025, the top leadership of UP Avas Vikas Parishad came up with another proposal of a bridge at the Hindon barrage.
They also proposed that there should be an uphill climb at the Indirapuram end taking commuters to UP-Gate and a downhill climb at the other end at Vasundhara taking commuters coming in at UP-gate.

Currently, the Hindon elevated road has just one ramp down at Kanawani to allow commuters who have entered at the Raj Nagar Extension. It is impossible then that this ramp down can be applied on the elevated road to ascend. Therefore, it is proposed to have one ramp up at Kanawani to allow commuters to use the Hindon elevated road to Delhi.
The UP government in October, 2025, gave the green light to the project which offers the two extensions of 400 metres each side to the Hindon elevated road at an approximate cost of 200 crore.
