Unknown Man Posing as Mechanic Tries to Break Into Houses in Northwest Delhi; Case Filed
In north west Delhi, a man impersonating a mechanic has broken into homes and case filed against him.
The water purifier mechanic is believed to have been involved in several incidents of attempted assault and robbery in Keshav Puram and Pitampura in the last few weeks and had been pretending to be an water purifier mechanic in the area, residents and victims said, causing panic in parts of northwest Delhi.
A case has been registered against the perpetrator of the offence under sections 333 and 351 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said, in the presence of an unidentified person armed with a tool, who trespassed at the house of the complainant.

Police said CCTV footage and the video circulating of the incident is being subjected to extensive analysis, while the complainant and other persons involved in the incident have been interviewed.
A local investigation is ongoing to determine the identity of the accused and teams have been sent out to secure the man's identity and capture him as early as possible.
Residents have alleged that the accused, on the video, was seen calling at the doorbells of houses in the housing society in Keshav Puram, pretending to be a repair worker to break inside. The video quickly spread across social media platforms, inciting a viral reaction from netizens who called for stringent action.
When residents were home alone, especially women and senior citizens, during the afternoon hours, they reported seeing the accused carrying a sharp-edged weapon and targeting homes, they said.
The woman raised an alarm and the accused is said to have thrown the gun in an empty plot in the vicinity and then ran away from the society.
The incident has also come under the scanner due to the similarities with the alleged robbery and assault that was reported in the Maurya Enclave area on April 21.

The accused forcibly went inside a victim's house, pretending to know the family, and attacked him, his teenage son, with a sharp object, according to a victim's family.
They also said the teen, in attempting to defend himself, sustained serious injuries to his hand and subsequently had surgery. The accused allegedly locked him in the bathroom, and took with him cash valued at around ₹4 lakh and gold jewellery worth nearly ₹25 lakh.
The family said they had complained many times and even footage of the suspect had been found in each of the incidents, yet he continues to be free to walk around.
Police have failed to locate the suspect after complaints were made from the locals and despite the CCTV footage, which some residents believe to be of Ajay Bagga, locals allege.
Police said they are investigating the incident.
