Trump Warns of Potential New US Strikes on Iran as Diplomatic Deal Remains Possible
US President Donald Trump hinted at possible renewed military action against Iran as early as Sunday while Tehran denied reports that it had offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for lifting Washington's naval blockade.
US President Donald Trump has hinted at the possibility of renewed military action against Iran as early as Sunday, while leaving open the prospect of a diplomatic agreement amid escalating tensions over the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to reporters in Florida on Saturday after casting his ballot, Trump said Tehran wanted to reach a deal but questioned whether Iran would honour its commitments.
When asked whether Washington could launch another attack, Trump said, "Do you really think I would tell you that? Maybe tomorrow...There's a possibility I will. There's also a possibility we'll have a nice, big, beautiful agreement. They want to make a deal, but the problem is, will they hold the deal?"
Trump defended his administration's military campaign in West Asia, claiming that US forces had inflicted significant damage on Iran's military capabilities.
“We have done an amazing job. Our Navy and military have done an amazing job. They have knocked out every jet fighter of Iran. 259 ships are at the bottom of the sea. They are only left with record inflation,” he said.
Iran denies reported proposal on Strait of Hormuz
Meanwhile, Iran has denied reports that it offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for Washington lifting its naval blockade.
According to Iran's Tasnim news agency, Tehran has not submitted any fresh proposal through Pakistani mediators. Press TV, citing sources quoted by Tasnim, described reports published by a Saudi Arabian media outlet as "a lie and fabrication".
The Saudi outlet had reported that Iran proposed restoring access through the strategically important waterway if the US ended its blockade.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical route for global energy shipments, making any disruption a major concern for oil markets and international trade.
US raises concerns over threats to diplomats
Separately, US intelligence agencies have reportedly detected a significant increase in suspected Iranian efforts to target American diplomats and government officials in the Middle East and other regions.
According to a memo dated October 23, obtained by Axios, some suspected plots involving potential loss of life have reached “advanced stages”, raising concerns among US security officials.
The reported threat has prompted the US State Department to reduce staffing at several American embassies in the Middle East as Washington assesses the risks of further escalation.
US officials are also monitoring the possibility of an expanded campaign by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi rebels, who could extend attacks beyond Saudi Arabia to other countries in the region.
The latest developments come as uncertainty persists over diplomatic efforts to ease the conflict, with Trump's latest remarks signalling that military escalation remains an option even as the possibility of negotiations continues.
