Tamil Nadu BJP Worker with Rs 4 Crore Cash: On Saturday, three people, including a BJP worker, were detained at Tambaram railway station in Chennai with Rs 4 crore in cash. The seized cash has been sent to the Income Tax Department for investigation.
Sathish, a BJP member and manager of a private hotel, his brother Naveen, and one driver, Perumal, were found to be carrying Rs 4 crore in bags loaded with 500 rupee notes in the second-class AC coach (A1).
Around 9pm, the flying squad on duty in Tambaram along with the police rushed to Tambaram railway station based on information that three men boarded the train in Egmore with seven to eight bags.
Satish allegedly confessed that he acted on the instructions of Nainar Nagenthiran's team in Tirunelveli.

"In Chennai's Tambaram railway station, Rs 4 crore was seized by the flying squad on Saturday. It has been sent to the Income Tax Department for further investigation. The Income Tax Department will investigate the seized amount as it is above Rs 10 lakh as per the Model Code of Conduct," said the Chengalpattu DEO.

The cash allegedly was parked in Kilpauk, Triplicane and Saligramam, places linked to Tirunelveli BJP candidate Nainar Nagendran, before being mobilized to Egmore railway station, based on the trio's confessions.
Accordingly, the Income Tax Department has been provided with all the information related to the seizure. Following this, the Income Tax Department will conduct a detailed investigation," said the DEO.
Tamil Nadu is slated to vote in a single phase on April 19 for 39 Lok Sabha seats.
