Sangrur Bypoll Results: AAP lost on CM Mann's seat, Simranjit of Akali Dal (A) won

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a major setback in the by-elections to the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat, which fell vacant due to the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Gurmel Singh has lost from Sangrur seat.

Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) candidate Simranjit Singh Mann has won the by-election in this high profile seat of Punjab. Simranjit Singh Mann defeated his nearest rival Gurmail Singh of Aam Aadmi Party by a margin of more than seven thousand votes.

Sangrur's newly elected MP Simranjit Singh Mann has tweeted that I express my gratitude to the people of Sangrur for electing their representative in Parliament. He has said that he will try his level best to solve the problems of farmers, agricultural laborers, businessmen and every citizen of Sangrur.

Simranjit Singh Mann also thanked the people of Sangrur by posting on Facebook. Many leaders including Shiromani Akali Dal's Sukhbir Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Khaira have congratulated Simranjit Singh Mann for this victory. Even in CM Bhagwant Mann's village, the Aam Aadmi Party has lagged behind.

Counting of votes for the by-election for Sangrur Lok Sabha seat is being held in Barnala. SD College of Pharmacy in Barnala has been made the counting center. A large number of security forces personnel are deployed outside the counting centre. Tight security arrangements have been made at the counting centre.
